Baby Registry & Bottle Feeding Help

I’ve started thinking about what we might need when we eventually adopt our baby. We’ve got most of the basics covered from when Gigi was little (car seat, cradle, pack’n'play, etc), but there are a few things we’ll need. I thought I’d post it here in case anyone would like to take a look. If you choose to buy us something, you can get it anywhere, and then just “mark it reserved” on our list. I’ll probably add to this as I think of things.

The biggest difference for us will be feeding. I breastfed Gigi exclusively until almost one and then used a small amount of formula as I weaned at the end. I’m hoping to do at least part of our bottle stock as glass (to limit the plastic use) and at least some of our formula organic. Gigi did some bottle feeding, but obviously not a lot.

So what I’m really looking for is some formula/bottle feeding advice! Those of you who have experience, please feel free to chime in with some advice on your favorite items, how much stock you kept on hand (bottles, formula) techniques, etc. Thanks so much!!

Hi Nicole! I stumbled upon your blog quite some time ago fr0m Christin (Pullium)’s blog, we grew up together in Eureka.
Anywho… I wasn’t able to breastfeed past about 8 weeks. It seemed like a huge failure at the time, but it actually turned out pretty great (my hubby LOVED to be a part of feeding her, and I didn’t have to get up every night!). We used the playtex nurser bottles (with the disposable liners), they kept the air way down and the nipple shape was more like the breast so she transitioned well. Also, it didn’t seem like it was “choking” her as much as some of the longer nipples. We had to try a few formulas to find one that worked best, but until she was about 6 months we used the predigested formula (Similac sensitive, but usually the Target brand equivalent). Then, as her tummy could handle it we switched to the Costco brand formula. We always kept 2 large cans on hand and generally went through about one a week. As for bottles, however many you think you need… double that. It’s crazy the number of bottles that we went through:-)
Good luck in this exciting journey!
Lindsey
