Fun in the Midwest

Our trip has been great overall so far, with only a couple of hiccups. Gigi’s “stomach-related sickness” turned out to be a throat infection which caused us to take it easy for a couple of days in the midwest. On Monday David went to the South Side alone to take in the White Sox game, while Gigi and I hung out with our hostess, Melissa. We had a really fun time hanging out with her in her super-cute studio in Lincoln Park.

On Tuesday, we left Chicago to head back to Stacey’s house in Indiana instead of going to the game in St. Louis, to give Gigi a little more time to recoup. We decided to stop at Fair Oaks Farms, a touristy dairy destination, enroute. We had a fun time tasting cheese, eating homemade ice cream and seeing the live birth of a baby calf in their birthing barn- I kid you not! Pretty amazing!

We had a great few days in Ladoga with the fam. Gigi loved playing with Peter and Reuben and we got to experience some of their everyday life and go hiking out at the beautiful Turkey Run State Park. David got 4th place in the weekly poker tournament down at the bar (unfortunately 3rd place and up won $$!) and Stacey and I spent some quality time watching sappy love movies. It was a perfectly relaxing time.

Here are the albums (all fairly small) from this leg of the trip:

Ladoga Part 2

Lincoln Square’s about the same distance from Wrigley as the Bennetts lived but to the north instead of the south.
